Standard Bank Limited is Now a Full-fledged Shariah Based Islami Bank

Standard Bank Limited, one of the most prominent private commercial banks in the country, has transformed into a full-fledged Islami bank with effect from Friday, January 1, 2021, which will be operated entirely on the basis of Shari`ah. Prior to this, on December 29, 2020, Standard Bank got permission from Bangladesh Bank to conduct operations according to Islami Shari`ah. Through this, the bank is committed to provide Shari`ah-based banking services to its customers. On Sunday, January 3, 2021, a Doa Mahfil was organized on the virtual platform on this occasion. Janab Kazi Akram Uddin Ahmed, Honorable Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bank & former President of FBCCI inaugurated the new journey of the Bank formally by cutting cake while Managing Director & CEO Janab Khondoker Rashed Maqsood presided over the ceremony. Vice Chairman Ashok Kumar Saha, Directors Messers Kamal Mostafa Chowdhury, Md. Zahedul Hoque, Ferozur Rahman, S. A. M. Hossain, Al-Haj Mohammed Shamsul Alam, Mohammed Abdul Aziz, Ferdous Ali Khan, Kazi Khurram Ahmed, Md. Abul Hossain, Najmul Huq Chaudhury and Md. Nazmus Salehin, Member of Shari`ah Supervisory Committee Hafiz Kazi Md. Ibrahim and Dr. Muhammad Saifullah, Deputy Managing Director Md. Motaleb Hossain and Mohammad Rafiqul Islam, Coordinator of SBL Islami Bank Conversion Project Md. Mohon Miah and employees of SBL attended the ceremony. On the occasion of this much awaited achievement, the Honorable Chairman of the Bank, Janab Kazi Akram Uddin Ahmed, expressed his gratitude in the court of Allah Almighty and wished overall happiness and prosperity to all. Hafiz Kazi Md. Ibrahim, Head Mohaddes, Hadis Department of Jamiah Kashemiah Kamil Madrasa & Member of Standard Bank Shari`ah Supervisory Committee conducted the prayers. The CFO & acting Company Secretary of SBL Md. Ali Reza FCMA, CIPA conducted the ceremony.
